Panama, a democratic republic located in Central America between Costa Rica and Colombia, with approximately 75,000 square kilometres in territory, and a population of almost 3.0 million people. Panama is world famous because of The Panama Canal; but Panama is not only a canal, there are many other attractive features about Panama, such as: the use of the U.S. Dollar as legal tender currency, an International Banking Centre, the best communications links in Latin America and a great Corporate Law, just to mention a few of them.
Panama is currently going thru a period of clear recovery in all aspects, this is noted in the change of mentality and behaviour of their citizens, who are all becoming aware of the need for opening to foreign private Investment and for the modernization of the economy.
This meant to be an advantage that should be added to the multiple features that adorn this country, that has historically used its geographic position as the axel around which the majority of their economic activities circumvent.
The U.S. Dollar as legal tender and the absence of a Central Bank issuing local currency, favours Panama's low inflation rate of 3% per year; even lower than the inflation rate in the United States. Additionally, in Panama you can bank in most of the important international banks of the world, or in top level local banks (there are more than 130 banks operating under general licenses and international representations)
Panama's telecommunications are rated the best of the area; five of the most important fibre optic cables passes through Panama, interconnecting North and South America, Europe and Asia as well. By air, our local airline COPA have a Hub in Panama serving all the Americas; by sea, our ports in both entrances of the canal provides service to the world's containers cargo ships. And last but not least, the Panama Railroad that travels across the Isthmus of Panama, compounding the services of the ports, into a multimode joint service.
The geographical situation of Panama in the low latitude intertropical zone provides a climate and a vegetation typically tropical. With the influence of the two oceans, temperatures are constants and high moderates during all year long. Abundant rain and high relative humidity during nine months of the year.
Panama corporations are very appreciated, with flexible regulations, easy to create and maintain, provided with a corporate veil strongly protected in Panama, may maintain complete anonymity with ease. Excellent for offshore business, its territoriality tax principle (any income conceived offshore), is completely tax free. Re-invoicing merchandise outside of Panama is allowed, and even interest on bank time deposits are tax free.
